Teaching of ICT
The launch and implementation of the ITASS ICT Scheme of Work has meant that schools
are now better placed to assess pupil's ICT capability.
Each Scheme of Work unit plan includes an Independent ICT Challenge which provides
pupils with the opportunity to display the knowledge skills and understanding they
have learned during the sequence of lessons in the unit.
Record of progress
Included within each unit plan is a Record of progress grid where teachers
can record the names of pupils who have achieved the unit expectations.

Assessment spreadsheets
Spreadsheets have been designed for each year group to support teachers in recording
assessments of children's ICT Capability. It is suggested that teachers make a judgment
of children's ICT capability based on the 'Independent ICT Challenge' at the end
of each unit. This is recorded on the Record of progress grid (see above). The information
can then be transferred to the spreadsheet and as each unit is completed, an end
of year 'level' is calculated. The 'level' is only an approximation and should be
used only as a guide to the child's overall ICT capability.
The spreadsheets can be downloaded from the grid below. They are also available
on the Scheme of Work page for each year group.

Progression in ICT
To identify and ensure progression in the teaching of the ICT curriculum across
all year groups, progression grids have been created for each of the strands in
the ITASS ICT Scheme of Work. Click on the image to download the progression grid.

When sampling ICT work for your school ICT portfolio, ask teachers to complete an
annotation sheet. This can then be used to support when moderating samples of work.
